Overview
Georgia Tech recognizes the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in fulfilling its mission to develop leaders who advance technology and improve the human condition. In alignment with this mission, the Institute is deeply committed to supporting its community members in the ethical, responsible, and secure use of AI tools across academic and research contexts.
To operationalize this commitment, Georgia Tech has created a draft AI policy and draft guidance framework, which outlines clear expectations and safeguards for AI use. This draft framework is grounded in eight guiding ethical principles, including accountability, transparency, human oversight, accessibility, fairness and bias mitigation, protection of sensitive data, and safeguards against hallucination and prompt injection risks.
The draft AI policy and draft AI guidance manual are now open for feedback from the campus community. This is a valuable opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to share their perspectives and ensure that the policy and guidance reflect the needs and values of our community while promoting ethical, responsible, and secure use of AI tools.
After your initial feedback is reviewed, the draft policy will enter the Institute’s formal policy development process for approval. This process includes the standard open comment period, during which the campus community can provide additional input.
Please see below for more details on how to review the draft policy and draft guidance and submit your feedback.
